LOGAN — On Saturday a ribbon was cut to mark a grand opening — of sorts — at the Hunter Street Saloon, 885 W. Hunter St. in Logan.

The event was billed as a “grand re-opening,” but as owner Crystal Strawser explained, it was really more a celebration of her having finalized sole proprietorship of the business.

“I bought out my ex-business partners two years ago, and it’s taken me two years to actually get the whole business into my name,” she told The Logan Daily News. “I now 100 percent own it by myself.”

The interior of the bar is bright and spacious, with plenty of tables. A stage, dance floor and sound-mixing area attest to the big role played there by music, both live and recorded.

“We have live music every Saturday night,” Strawser confirmed. “Every Friday night we have DJ karaoke. On Wednesdays we have line dancing — that’s a complete hit here. We’ve got happy hour from 4 to 7. There’s always something going on here.”

The bar enjoys a regular clientele of local folks, but also attracts its share of visitors, according to Strawser.

“We have a lot of local support,” she said. “I mean, I wouldn’t have gotten here without my locals, to be honest with you. But Hocking County has turned into a tourist community, so we get a lot of the tourists — which is great, I love ‘em.”

As a large group of staffers, friends and supporters gathered to take part in the ribbon-cutting, Strawser extended a heartfelt message of gratitude.

“I want to give to the community. You guys help me do that,” she said. “I want this to be a place where people can come as strangers and leave as friends. You guys help me do that. You guys make people feel welcome. You believe in what I want this bar to be. I couldn’t do this without you. I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough; it’s not a big enough word.”
