Patrick Joseph Travis
Patrick Joseph Travis, 75, recently of Lakeland, Florida, passed away Tuesday evening, May 21st, 2024, while traveling with his wife, Theresa in Spearfish, South Dakota. Pat was born to Ralph F. and Leona M. (Maher) Travis on November 9th, 1948, in Hamburg, Iowa. He was the third of four children born of this union. He was descendant, on both sides, of family long settled in Southwest Iowa. Patrick was raised in the area, culminating with his graduation from Sidney High School in 1966. Following, he pursued a B.S. in business at Iowa State concurrent with committing to his enlistment in the United States Marine Corp’s officer training program – a fulfillment of a promise made when a Marine recruiter called on Pat when he was only 10 years old. Apparently, he had filled out a recruiting card unbeknownst to his mother, who was not happy about his early ambition.

Sharon Kay Robertson (Scheer) Peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home, with loved ones present on May 17, 2024, in Loveland Colorado at the age of 86. She was born August 13, 1937, in Fremont Nebraska. Sharon was a beloved mother to Michael James (Quina) and Katie Salyards, and a cherished grandmother to Keri and Steven Campbell, Sean Patrick, Samuel, Emily, Lisette and Thomas James and great grandson Dylen Campbell . Sharon was the eldest of 4. Her parents Elmer and Mabel Scheer raised 3 other daughters, all who were raised to love The Lord, Diane Eidam (Don), Connie Moeller (Moe) and Cindy Tegt (Dave). She was preceded in death by her first husband, Boyd James, 2nd husband Ian Robertson, daughter Mary Campbell (Larry), and grandson James Patrick.

Calvin George Zuege, 82, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away on April 5, 2024. He was born on February 26, 1942, in St. Francis, KS. Among many of his various positions, Calvin was a Store Manager and Regional Manager at Tandy Leather. He attended Haigler Elementary, Haigler High School, and McCook Junior College for higher education.

BRIGHTON — United Power proudly announces its scholarship recipients for 2024. This year, the cooperative awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships to outstanding students in its service territory. The United Power Scholarship Committee selected 18 high school seniors based on grades, test scores, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and a written essay. Construction on the CO 119 Bikeway is on Track to Start This Fall
Boulder County announced that the bikeway planned for the CO 119 construction project will begin in the fall with some alterations to the original plan. When first designed the plan called for a bike underpass at 63rd Street. While scoping out the area, designers discovered that a large underground water line runs through the area. The planned underpass would force the county to move the waterline which would cost more than $3 million and delay the completion of the project by a year.
