The Luverne Journal staff recently received a collection of home movies and film slides from the early 1950s that had been stored by a sister newspaper, The Selma Times-Journal. The canisters, mainly 8mm films, labeled with various family names and descriptions of trips and a vacation home, are identified as belonging to S.M. Revel of 214 Glenwood Road in Luverne at the time the film was developed.

The Journal staff has discovered many things through research about Revel, including that he was “one of the most versatile businessmen in Luverne,” as noted in his obituary published by The Luverne Journal on Jan. 21, 1987. We hope to reunite these films with the Revel family and are asking for our readers’ assistance.

Anyone with information which could help reunite the films with the Revel family, please call (334) 382-3111 or email news@luvernejournal.com . We will also be doing a follow up article in the coming weeks. So, stay tuned!
