Millicent “Millie” Anderson, 74, a resident of Rutledge and formerly of Montgomery, passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center South on Saturday, Aug. 10. A celebration of Millie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 at First Baptist Church of Luverne with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating and pastors Clay Crum, Wes Hatcher and Jesse Kirkland assisting.

Millie came to her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age and that faith sustained her throughout all the trials and tribulations she faced in life. She truly lived as Jesus instructed all Christians with a kind, loving, and generous heart. Her generosity knew no bounds, truly, and her good deeds were done as they ought to be, quietly without need for attention or praise.

Despite all she went through in her life, Millie never failed to always put others ahead of herself in the true definition of selflessness. She was certainly a faithful and cherished friend and sister. She made it a mission in life, especially over the last 19 years, to keep those she knew and cherished constantly encouraged as they themselves faced the slings and arrows of life, and so sent thousands of thoughtful cards over the years.

In her free time and when she was able, she was an avid reader of Christian fiction, enjoyed scrapbooking, and explored her more creative side through crocheting many an afghan made with her loving heart and hands for people in her life. Above all, she was the epitome of all a Christian woman should be and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that should be a lesson to us all.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold W. and Lucille Wilson Anderson. She is survived by her beloved brother, William Jackson Anderson; first cousins, Evelyn Ligon and Johnny Rush; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be the former and current ministers of the Alabama Crenshaw Baptist Association.
