Make it 12 in a row.

The Culver High School baseball squad reeled off its 12th straight win after taking both ends of a doubleheader from Central Linn Friday in Culver, winning the opener 9-4 and the nightcap 11-0.

A triple by Jace Silbernagel got the bats going for Culver in the opener. Carlos Fernandez pitched six innings for the Dawgs with Joel Taylor coming in during the sixth and finishing the game on the hill in the seventh.

Aiden Guest took the ball to pitch game two and was lights out. The game ended in the sixth.

"Game two was a different story than game one," said coach Kyle Kuust. "We were tough everywhere: fielding, hitting, baserunning and pitching. Game two is the expectation as we continue moving forward."

The Dawgs finish the regular season this week. They hosted Monroe/Alsea on Monday (results past deadline) then hit the road for a doubleheader with Monroe/Alsea Wednesday. The Bulldogs then finish with a makeup road game with East Linn Christian.

The Bulldogs have a 2.5-game lead over Monroe/Alsea for second place in the Special District 3 race. If they finish second, they'll likely host a state playoff game Tuesday, May 20, noted Kuust.

"We're not overlooking anyone," said the coach.

Regis, the last team to beat Culver, back in the first week of April, is in first place in the league at 15-0.
