Kyle Devine wins Desert Peaks Club Championship

Kyle Devine is the 2024 Desert Peaks Golf Course Men’s Club Champion after winning the club championship tournament held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17-18.

Devine shot a 76 on Saturday but was on fire Sunday and finished with a 69 for a tourney total of 145. Three other golfers — Ed McDaniel, Austin Say and Johnny Wilson — tied for second at 147.

Rodney Adams took the low net title in the Open Division with a 65-62-127. Russ Scholl was second at 65-65-130 and Andrew Fine third with a 59-74-133.

Bob Ringering won the Senior Flight title. He carded a 75-75-150 to win by five strokes. John Katchia Sr. carded a 79-78-157 for second and Dick Wilson a 78-81-159 for third.

Mike Bouvia was the low net in the Senior Division with a 65-65-129. Don Kraus finished with a 68-63-131 and Owen Danzuka Sr. a 71-62-133 for third.

A highlight of the two-day event was Kraus scoring an eagle on hole No. 7 on Sunday, holing out on his second shot of the par four.

Johnny Wilson, last year’s Open Division winner and a second place finisher this year, won the closest-to-the-pin contest and Adams captured longest drive for the Open Division. Ringering and Bouvia won KP and long drive honors in the Senior Division.

“We want to thank Gary Gruner for his donation that made this tournament a very successful one,” said Men’s Club president Brad Mondoy. “The scores were really competitive this year.”

“We want to thank all the volunteers who spent time to run the tournament. We are glad for all the players who joined us this year and had fun. We encourage players to come out and join us next year,” said Mondoy.
