    Buffalos run at The Dalles

    The White Buffalo boys cross country squad took third and the girls sixth at the Bridget Nelson Invitational Cross Country Meet, held Friday, Sept. 27 in The Dalles.

    In the boys meet The Dalles finished with 30 points, while Crook County had 35. Rounding out the scoring were Madras, 107, Sandy, 115, Estacada, 126, Portland Christian, 150, Umatilla, 169, and Riverside, 208.

    In the girls event both Sandy and Crook County finished with 57 points. However, Sandy got the win because their sixth finisher placed higher than Crook County’s. They were followed by The Dalles, 59, Heppner, 68, Madras, 115, Umatilla, 172, and Portland Christian, 175.

    Adam Radabaugh took first place in the boys race for Crook County with a time of 17:48.3. Caleb Caldwell of The Dalles finished second with a time of 18:04.4. He was followed by Crook County’s Kannon Whiting, 18:10.4 and Taylor Harper, 18:20.2. The Dalles runners finished in fifth through seventh places, while the first runner from Madras, RedSky Waheneka finished in ninth place with a time of 18:57.5.

    Rounding out the scoring for the White Buffalos were Theron Young in 20th with a time of 19:52.8, Deklyn Parton, 21st in 20:02.0, Julian Stwyer, 30th in 20:58.8, Paydon Mitchell, 31st in 20:59.4, Bayan Boldbayar, 41st in 23:05.6 and Luke Fessler, 48th in 24:01.5.

    Senior Emily Picard had another strong race for the Buffalo girls, taking third overall.

    Alaina Casady of The Dalles finished in first place in the girls race with a time of 20:21.6. Picard clocked a 21:24.4. Crook County’s Ruby Snider finished in fourth place with a time of 21:34.7.

    Zoe Kollen was the second runner in for the White Buffalos, finishing 32nd with a time of 26:51.3. Also running for the White Buffalos were Tessa Camas, 35th in 27:23.4, Alessandra Benitez, 36th in 27:55.6, Ruth Rodriguez, 37th in 28:06.4, Sammy Romero, 38th in 28:33.0 and Gabby Marino, 46th in 31:23.0.

    The White Buffalos didn’t have a full JV team, Lucas Hurd finished in 21st place with a time of 25:17.7, while Gabe Parker was 28th, in 26:34.0, Alex Irvine finished 32nd in 26:45.0 and Liam Circle took 33rd with a time of 27:13.1.

    The JV girls meet was won by The Dalles, while Sandy was the only other school to field a complete team. For Madras, Kiahna Allen was their lone runner, finishing in 16th place with a time of 32:00.3.

    Both Crook County and Madras will compete at the Oxford Classic at Drake Park in Bend this coming Saturday.
