Madras went into Creswell Thursday, Oct. 3 looking for their third consecutive Special District 3 football victory.

Instead, they came back on the short side of a 20-6 decision and are now tied with two other squads for second in the league at 2-1, with 3-0 Cottage Grove at the top.

Too many fumbles was the key reason behind the loss, which left the Buffalos 2-3 overall on the year. The fumbles gave Creswell short fields and they led 20-0 before the Buffs scored.

Friday night Madras host Elmira, which is 1-2 in league. Elmira lost just 25-22 to Creswell on the road on Sept. 27.

In the matchup of two teams unbeaten heading in, Cottage Grove beat Sisters 28-19 in Cottage Grove.
