Madras went into Creswell Thursday, Oct. 3 looking for their third consecutive Special District 3 football victory. Instead, they lost a 20-6 decision and are now tied with two other squads for second in the league at 2-1, with 3-0 Cottage Grove at the top.

The Buffs gave the game away with six turnovers, four lost fumbles and two turnovers-on-downs. One fumble was returned for a Bulldog touchdown. The loss left the Buffalos 2-3 overall on the year. The fumbles gave Creswell short fields and they led 20-0 before the Buffs scored.

Otherwise, the Buffs dominated. Running back Orion Reynoso had a monster game, noted coach Neil Elshire, gaining more than 200 yards. Kickoff and punt returns also routinely gave MHS great field position, but then turnovers ensued.

Friday night Madras hosts Elmira, which is 1-2 in league. Elmira lost just 25-22 to Creswell on the road on Sept. 27.

In the league matchup of two teams unbeaten heading in, Cottage Grove beat Sisters 28-19 in Cottage Grove.
