Protecting Maine Farmland: Public Hearing on Solar Farms, Aug 19, 2024

    2024-08-16

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry will be holding a public hearing on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at 90 Blossom Lane, Deering Building, Room 101 in Augusta. On the 19th, there will be an online public hearing through Microsoft Teams for participation. Written comments will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024. This public hearing will give Mainers the chance to provide public comments regarding the draft rule on LD 1881.

LD 1881, An Act Regarding Compensation Fees and Related Conservation Efforts to Protect Soils, Wildlife, and Fisheries Habitat from Solar and Wind Energy Development and High-impact Electric Transmission Lines Under the Site Location of Development Laws, was passed by the Maine legislature in 2023.

The Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry is looking for input from Mainers before the final adoption of any rules, and this public hearing is your chance to give your input.
