    Week 3 Football Roundup: Elgin, Pleasant, Northmor earn lopsided wins, plus other scores

    MARION — Elgin dominated on both sides of the ball en route to a 34-0 home victory over North Baltimore Friday night in Week 3 Northwest Central Conference football action.

    The defense held the Tigers (1-2, 0-2) to 24 yards of offense as Landon Shepard paced the Comets (2-1, 2-0) with 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble. Colton Long added three sacks, while Gavin Rhodes had eight tackles, Jack VanGundy six tackles, Quinten Harrison five tackles with a sack and Nash Lust an interception and fumble recovery.

    On the other side of the ball, Harrison ran 22 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns, while Rhodes had 161 yards on just eight carries. VanGundy ran for 40 yards, and Lust had a 38-yard touchdown catch from Zack Bowers.

    Pleasant 48, Whitehall-Yearling 6

    The Spartans (2-1) led 13-0 in the first quarter and 27-0 in the second period before Whitehall (0-3) scored before halftime. Pleasant continued to roll in the second half and rout the Rams. No other details were made available.

    Highland 42, Coshocton 28

    It was 7-7 at halftime, but the Scots (1-2) pulled out the long road-trip victory at Coshocton (0-3). Kolton Stover passed for 242 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 19 of 30 passing, while Kort Sears made eight catches for 121 yards and a score. Kane Stover scored two TDs, and Sam Hernandez led on the ground with 106 yards and a touchdown. Highland's defense allowed 131 yards on the ground and 132 in the air.

    Northmor 47, Mapleton 7

    The Golden Knights (3-0) wasted little time against Mapleton (1-2) in romping to the win. Cowin Becker paced Northmor with 69 yards on six carries, scoring twice, plus catching a touchdown pass from A.J. Bowers who was 4 of 6 passing for 121 yards, adding a 20-yard touchdown toss to Cameron Goldbach. The Mounties did not complete a pass.

    North Union 14, Zane Trace 8

    Both teams earned safeties in the first period, then North Union's Griffin Osborne caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Krebehenne. Zane Trace (0-3) tied it in the third quarter, but NU (1-2) won it on a Nickolas Hajjar 12-yard TD pass to Krebehenne who finished with 90 yards rushing. Nick Vanhoose added 83 yards on the ground. Miles Marlette had two tackles for loss for the Wildcats, and Wyatt Arver recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass. The NU defense limited ZT to 197 total yards and nine first downs, coming away with three turnovers.

    Mount Gilead 32, Grove City Christian 13

    Mount Gilead's defense forced four turnovers and held Grove City Christian (2-1) to 150 yards of offense as Tyler Harr returned a fumble 25 yards for a touchdown. Also for MG (2-1), Cam Vickers ran for 73 yards, and Carson Barnum ran for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Also, Cole Fricke completed a 54-yard TD pass to Wyatt Long.

    Lima Senior 49, Marion Harding 24

    The Presidents (1-2) led 10-8 and later cut it to 20-17, but Lima Senior (3-0) pulled away on the second half. Connor Pennington was 17-for-36 for 168 passing yards and a touchdown. Ray J Scott-Harbolt ran 22 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns, plus he caught a touchdown among his four receptions. Parker Davis had seven catches for 76 yards, and Jackson Shipley kicked a 30-yard field goal.

    The defense limited Lima Senior to negative-4 yards rushing, but Ja'niaus Hall was 32 of 50 passing for 500 yards and seven touchdowns. Harding picked him off four times. Boog Wilson made nine catches for 222 yards and three TDs, and Keyon Smith added eight for 159 and three more scores for the Spartans.

    Ridgemont 14, Ridgedale 8 (OT)

    In a Northwest Central Conference game, Ridgemont (2-1, 2-0) escaped Ridgedale (1-2, 0-2) with the overtime victory. No other details were made available.
