    You pick! Fans vote in the Marion Star Best of the Week Performer Polls for boys and girls

    MARION — Boys and girls golf will be playing in districts this week, with the Marion Harding boys competing in the Division I sectionals.

    Girls tennis starts tournament play this week as well, while cross country is in its final week of invitationals before the start of conference meets and the postseason. Looming on Saturday for most area teams is the Marion Harding Cross Country Invitational.

    Soccer and volleyball are getting closer to figuring out league championships this week and next.

    With these busy times, here is the Marion Star Best of the Week Performer Polls for boys and girls. The nominees are below, and fans may vote as often as allowed through early Sunday morning at MarionStar.com and its app.

    Girls Poll

    ● Elgin volleyball's Delainy Boles produced 10 kills, 10 digs and 23 serve receptions in a win over Waynesfield-Goshen.

    ● Ridgedale volleyball's Richelle Gleespen put up 32 digs and 22 serve receptions in a win over Cory-Rawson.

    ● Highland volleyball's Kameron Stover put down 25 kills in a win over Loudonville and became the school's all-time kills leader with 1,643 and counting, topping the previous mark of 1,637 set by Kam Terry in 2014.

    ● Marion Harding tennis player Abbey Hoertz won the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference championship in third singles.

    ● River Valley soccer's Megan Thompson scored the only goal in the match, doing so off a free kick in a victory over Cory-Rawson.

    ● Northmor golfer Katelyn Miley qualified for the Division II district tournament with an 83 at the Blacklick Woods sectional.

    ● Highland golfer Ceci Grassbaugh qualified for the Division II district tournament with a 79 at the Darby Creek sectional.

    Boys Poll

    ● Pleasant golfer Dylan Moore was the sectional runner-up with a 74 at the Darby Creek sectional.

    ● River Valley golfer Chase Smith won the Oakhaven sectional with a 75.

    ● Mount Gilead cross country runner Will Baker won the Denny Stevens Invitational at Fredericktown's Kokosing Reservoir by running a time of 15:08, which is unofficially a top five time in the entire state this season, according to Athletic.net.

    ● Ridgedale cross country runner Elliot Weston was eighth in 16:52 at the Denny Stevens Invitational at Fredericktown's Kokosing Reservoir.

    ● Pleasant cross country runner Will Lichtenberger was runner-up at the North Union Invitational in 17:26.

    ● North Union cross country runner Felix Plouck was third in 17:50 at the North Union Invitational.

    Last week's winners

    In last week's girls poll, River Valley soccer's Ellie Rowe who made 17 saves in a tie match with Shelby earned 443 of 639 votes for 69 percent to win it. Other nominees were Marion Harding soccer's Ivy Russell, Pleasant golfer Maddie Murphy, Grassbaugh and North Union volleyball's Glory Blevins.

    In last week's boys poll, River Valley soccer's Hudson Pollock who scored six goals with seven assists in four matches, plus set the all-time assists record, won it with 376 of 579 votes for 65 percent. Other nominees were Highland golfer Jayden Collins, Baker, Lichtenberger, North Union golfer Jaxon Jolliff and Northmor runner David Blunk.
