Downtown Marion gears up for fall festival with scarecrow displays

Volunteers from across the city of Marion are celebrating fall with a scarecrow display downtown.

More than two dozen individuals and organizations at the request of Downtown Marion Inc. have added the colorful straw people to flowerbeds, benches and other locations until mid-November.

This is a prelude to Downtown Marion Inc.'s fall festival 5-8 p.m. Oct. 17 at Founders Park. Free and open to the public, the festival will include a chili cookoff, food trucks, inflatables, games, family activities and a glow dance party.
