    Back to back?: 2024 schedule for Mid-Wach B defending champions Westborough football

    After sharing its home field with rival Algonquin all of last season , Westborough has Joseph Mewhiney Field all to itself as it chases a second consecutive playoff berth in 2024.

    The Rangers won seven straight games last year, entering the playoffs before falling in the first round against Mansfield in the opening round. They captured the Midland Wachusett B championship for the first time in 21 years with a dramatic double overtime victory against Marlborough .

    This all followed a 1-11 season in 2022.

    Senior quarterback Andrew Pisciotta was the Mid-Wach B offensive player of the year as a junior. He completed 60 percent of his passes and threw for 1,145 yards and 20 TDs while running for 375 yards and three scores.

    Senior Ben Friedberg is Westborough's leading returning tackler after 69 last season.

    Westborough hosts Burlington and Sharon in its non-league schedule. The Red Devils won a playoff game last season.

    Here's how the rest of the slate lines up, including a tough five-day turnaround between a Saturday Week 5 matchup against Shepherd Hill and a Thursday Week 6 trip to Nashoba:

    Friday, Sept. 9 vs. Doherty, 5 p.m.

    Friday, Sept. 13 vs. Burlington, 6:30 p.m.

    Friday, Sept. 20 vs. Sharon, 6:30 p.m.

    Friday, Sept. 27 at Tyngsborough, 7 p.m.

    Saturday, Oct. 5 vs. Shepherd Hill, 3 p.m.

    Friday, Oct. 18 at Fitchburg, 7 p.m.

    Friday, Oct. 25 at Groton-Dunstable, 7 p.m.

    Friday, Nov. 1 vs. Marlborough, 6:30 p.m.

    Thursday, Nov. 28 at Algonquin, 10 a.m.
