    Hat tricks everywhere: Tuesday's Fantastic Five (+1) high school sports performances

    Weather forecasters couldn't have predicted the shower of hats that could have taken place on fields across MetroWest and the greater Milford area on Tuesday. There were hat tricks all over the place as well as school records and other eye-popping performances . Here are six of the best from September 24:

    Audrey Bell, Blackstone Valley Tech boys soccer

    She put away a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Abby Kelley for the Beavers (4-3-1, 3-0 Colonial).

    Matthew Drons, Blackstone Valley Tech boys soccer

    He scored once and added three assists in a 10-0 win over Abby Kelley for the undefeated Beavers (7-0, 6-0 Colonial). BVT's Miguel Machado and Joao Barraso each scored twice, while Ben Rivelli, Mason Dorr, Ethan Pepin, Khari Torku and Aaron Korpi had a goal each.

    Kacie Horn, Marlborough field hockey

    She had a hat trick and added three assists in a 9-0 win over Worcester South. Maggie Horn also put away three goals for the Panthers (4-3). Marlborough's Keira Manning, Avery Horrigan and Emerson Gaudette each put away one goal.

    Oliver Mello, Hudson boys cross-country

    He set a school record for the Hawks, traversing Hudson's 3.05-mile course in 16 minutes, 58 seconds to place second in a 24-33 loss against Bromfield. Andrew Klinedinst (17:01) tied the old school record, as well, and took third.

    Pedro Oliveira, Assabet Valley boys soccer

    He scored a hat trick in a 6-2 win over Main South for Assabet (5-1-2, 4-1 Colonial).

    Olivia Penn, Natick girls soccer

    She scored twice for the Redhawks in a 4-0 win over Braintree that kept Natick (7-0) undefeated. Cassidy Moriarty also connected on a header for a Redhawks goal, and Nicol Proia found the net once.

    Boys soccer

    WAYLAND 3, Bedford 1: John Prdage collected a goal and an assistfor the Warriors. Wayland's Max Walsh and Lucas Yemin also found the net, while keeper Tristan Norgaard earned the victory in net.

    HOLLISTON 2, Medway 0: Luke McHugh recorded his fifth shutout of the season for the Panthers (6-3, 4-3 Tri-Valley League).

    NATICK 4, Braintree 2: Joel Duarte contributed a goal and an assist for the Redhawks (5-2, 4-3 Bay State).

    ALGONQUIN 3, Westborough 0: Alex Deschaine, senior captain Zach Ruthfield and Eligio Coniglio scored in the final 20 minutes for the Titans (4-2-2, 2-1-1 Mid-Wach A). Algonquin keeper Max Oelkers made seven saves to preserve the shutout.

    Girls soccer

    TRI-COUNTY 1, Diman 0: Noelle Korenbaum scored the winner for the Cougars (3-3, 1-1 Mayflower) with five minutes left after splitting the defense. Tri-County's Lily Freeman had the assist, and Lily Sedam earned the shutout.

    LINCOLN-Sudbury 3, Shrewsbury 0: Alexa Hoff scored a goal and added an assist for the Warriors (5-1-1). L-S' Ciara Morrissey and Ella Ryan each found the net once.

    HOLLISTON 2, Medway 0: Anya Holden and Paige Kuchman each found the net once for the Panthers (5-2-1, 5-1-1 Tri-Valley League) Holliston keeper Keira Lucas posted her fourth shutout of the season.

    ALGONQUIN 3, Westborough 1: Hope Candela and Katie Richmond scored in the first half and Mary Cate Megan converted a pass from Olivia Demember in the second half for the Titans (3-4-1, 2-1-1 Mid-Wach A). Regan Sullivan finished off a loose ball in the box to score for the Rangers (5-2-1, 2-1-1).

    NASHOBA 3, Hudson 1: Daria Giorgi Woodford scored for the Hawks (6-2, 4-1 Mid-Wach B).

    HOPKINTON 5, Millis 0: Maddie Recupero found the net twice for the Hillers (7-0). Hopkinton's Alex Clarke, Alyson Green and Mairin O'Connor each scored once.

    DOVER-SHERBORN 1, Westwood 0: Milla Lee scored the winner for the Raiders (4-2-2). D-S goalie Alexis Weiss earned the shutout.

    WESTBOROUGH 3, Wachusett 0: Morgan Oberlee had seven digs, six aces and two kills for the Rangers (6-0, 5-0 Mid-Wach A) in a 25-15, 25-16, 25-12 victory. Westborough libero Anna Goretti pulled up five digs with an ace.

    SHREWSBURY 3, Algonquin 1: Grace Chiota notched 15 kills, 4 aces and 12 digs for the Titans (4-5, 1-3 Mid-Wach A). Alongquin's Julianna Zimmer collected 18 digs and 3 aces, and Ella Poultney passed out 21 assists. Katy O'Connell put down eight kills for the Titans.

    Boys cross-country

    HOPEDALE 22, Nipmuc 36: Ben Powell led the Blue Raiders to a win, taking first in the boys 5K in 17:59. Hopedale's Ben Stone was second.

    TRI-COUNTY 15, Norfolk Aggie 50: DJ McGuire placed first for the Cougars (3-0, 3-0 Mayflower Large) in 18:54.

    AMSA 16, Main South 39: Colin Fall paced the Eagles (6-0, 4-0 Colonial) in first in 21:17. AMSA swept the top three with Noah Krieger (21:42) in second and Gabriel Yen (23:32) in third.

    ST. PAUL 27, Assabet Valley 28: Alex Mathieu finished first for Assabet (0-3) in 17:33 followed by Alex Vincequer in third (17:40).

    ALGONQUIN 26, Wachusett 30: Jonah Gould took first for the Titans (3-0) in 16:58 at home. Algonquin's Stephen Green (17:13) placed third.

    SHPHERD HILL 26, Westborough 30: Marty Goddeau placed second for the Rangers (0-2, 0-2).

    NIMPUC 27, Hopedale 28: Teagan Richards crossed the line first for the Blue Raiders in 21:29.

    ST. PAUL 20, ASSABET 35: Mia Graffeo crossed the line first in 20:07 for Assabet (0-4).

    WACHUSETT 18, Algonquin 45: Tanzi Mehta (21:16) was third for the Titans (1-2, 1-2 Mid-Wach A).

    WESTBOROUGH 20, Shepherd Hill 35: Clare Hall took first for the Rangers (2-0) in 18:50. Westborough's Rekha Palayoor (20:26) was third, and Chloe Flynn (20:49) was fourth.

    BROMFIELD 15, Hudson 50: Julia Kinedinst was fourth for the Hawks in (20:23).

    DOVER-SHERBORN 210, Medfield 221: Ian Mauro was the medalist for the Raiders (7-3) with a 1-over 33 at Sassamon Trace.

    HOPKINTON 243, Norton 248: Levi Schuster shot an even-par 36 for the Hillers (6-2).

    WESTBOROUGH 193, Leominster 212: Benjamin Estaphan led the Rangers (5-4, 3-3 Mid-Wach A) with a 37.

    BAY PATH 173, Assabet 174: Tucker Patricks led Assabet (2-7-1, 2-6-1 Colonial) with a 3-over 38 at Heritage.

    HUDSON 35.5, Tahanto 18.5: Anthony Moura shot a 7-over 43 at Cyprian Keyes for the Hawks (3-5, 2-2 Mid-Wach D).

    GROTON-DUNSTABLE 39, Marlborough 15: Jake Matros and Ryan Wood both carded 39s for the Panthers (2-7).
