Wellesley runner Charlotte Tuxbury commits to Wake Forest track and field

Charlotte Tuxbury has showed she can run with anyone in Massachusetts and the majority of the nation during an already decorated high school career.

Now the Wellesley senior has set her course for the college level. On Wednesday, she committed to run for Wake Forest.

"Thank you to my family, coaches, friends and teammates who have supported me everyday! A huge thank you to Coach Ashley (Bastron) for giving me this amazing opportunity," she wrote on Instagram . "I could not be more excited for the next 4 years with the most amazing group of girls!"

Tuxbury ran the top indoor mile time in the state last winter and captured a 4x800-meter relay title . She was second in the mile and fourth in the 800 at the outdoor MIAA Meet of Champions after winning the Division 1 mile and two mile.

Wellesley is off to a strong start this cross-country season, as well, ranked No. 9 in the first Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Poll. Tuxbury is racking up the dual-meet wins with the postseason around the corner.

She also has competed internationally, representing the USA at the 2023 U18 Mountain Running Cup. Tuxbury finished eighth and helped the U.S. girls squad win a silver medal in the Semnoz mountain just outside of Annecy, France. That performance earned her USA Track & Field New England Athlete of the Month honors.

Wake Forest placed eighth at last year's ACC championships. The Demon Deacons' top runner took 18th. They won the Firetower Project in Boone, North Carolina, this year.
