Sudbury grocery store has reopened for business after addressing mice issue

SUDBURY The Sudbury Farms grocery store on Boston Post Road has reopened after closing late last month due to a mouse infestation .

The grocery store, which is within the Sudbury Crossing plaza at 439 Boston Post Road (Route 20), was closed to address the rodent problem from Sept. 26 until Oct. 5.

A Sudbury Farms manager referred a call from the Daily News seeking comment to the store's owner, Mansfield-based Roche Bros. No one from the chain's main office returned a call on Wednesday, as has been the case since the Sudbury store's Sept. 26 closure.

Earlier: Sudbury health director says grocery store is 'making progress' with mice issue

Last Saturday, the store announced its reopening in a Facebook post.

"We've missed you," the post reads. "We are pleased to announce the reopening of our Sudbury Farms location." The post did not say why the store had been closed, but a sign outside of the store described it as a pest issue.

No one from the Sudbury Health Department could be reached for comment on Wednesday. But last week, Health Director Vivian Zeng said the store had mice, and that Roche Bros. was making progress on an action plan to deal with the issue. Zeng added that she was conducting daily inspections, but did not have a time frame for the store's reopening.

Representatives from Roche Bros. are scheduled to appear Oct. 24 before the Sudbury Board of Health to discuss the issue and what efforts were being made to ensure it doesn't happen again, Zeng said last week.

Roche Bros. has been family-owned and operated since 1952, according to its website. The chain runs 20 stores in Eastern Massachusetts, including a second Sudbury Farms store in Needham.
