    The weather has cooled, but our local athletes have stayed hot. Vote below for the MetroWest/Milford Daily News Male Athlete of the Week. A similar poll for football can be found here .

    Last week's winner was Algonquin soccer's Zachary Ruthfield, who edged Hopedale golf's Colin Haynes by just 70 votes. More than 3,500 votes were cast.

    Jack Almeda, Dover-Sherborn boys cross country

    The senior finished first in 16 minutes, 18 seconds to lead the Raiders to a win over Medfield.

    John Bianchi, Natick boys cross country

    A junior, Bianchi finished third in the large school varsity boys race at the MSCTA Bob Glennon Twilight Invitational on Saturday in a personal-best time of 15.22.

    Brian Campbell, Wellesley golf

    Shot a 4-under 32 at Nehoiden in a win over Natick on Monday.

    Luke Chisum, Wayland cross country

    The senior placed fifth in the medium varsity boys race in 15:41 at the Bob Glennon Twilight Invitational on Saturday.

    Coby Erlich, Westborough golf

    Shot even-par 35 to earn medalist honors for the Rangers against Algonquin.

    Colin Haynes, Hopedale golf

    He shot a 37 to become medalist in a win over Sutton that helped the Blue Raiders to a share of the Dual Valley Conference championship.

    Santiago Hernandez, Blackstone Valley Tech golf

    Cared a 35 and finished in a tie for second to help the Beavers to defend their Colonial Athletic League title with a one-stroke victory over Monty Tech.

    Charlie Leighton, Blackstone Valley Tech golf

    At the Colonial Athletic League championship, Leighton shot a 35 and tied for second. BVT won the title by one stroke over Monty Tech.

    Stephen Leighton, Hopkinton cross country

    At Holliston's 5K course on Wednesday, the senior set the course record of 16 minutes, 25 seconds as he finished first in the Hillers' team victory over the Panthers. He was also Hopkinton's top finisher at the Bob Glennon Twilight Invitational on Sunday in East Falmouth, posting a 16:31 to place 37th out of 248 finishers.

    Luke McHugh, Holliston soccer

    McHugh, a sophomore keeper, earned his seventh shutout of the season for the Panthers in a victory over Norton.

    Ethan Sholk, Lincoln-Sudbury cross country

    The senior placed fourth in the large school varsity race at the MSTCA Bob Glennon Twilight Invitational, running a personal best 15:29.09, which broke the school record for five kilometers.

    George Skafidas, Algonquin golf

    Shot a 2-under 33 at Juniper Hill for the Titans in a win over Marlborough.

    Devin Sugioka, Lincoln-Sudbury Unified basketball

    He scored eight points and added four rebounds against Newton South.
