Prince William is 'spitting mad' at Prince Harry for 'cashing in on Princess Diana's death'

Prince William is "furious" with Prince Harry after he spoke out about their late mother in a new interview, according to a source.

The Duke of Sussex opened up about Princess Diana as he sat down for an interview as part of the ITV documentary Tabloids on Trial. In the show, Harry suggested there was "evidence" that showed Diana was likely to have been a victim of phone hacking in the mid-90s.

He said she was "probably one of the first people to be hacked". A source has now claimed William is "spitting mad" over Harry's comments and accused his brother of "cashing in on Diana's death".

Speaking to the New Idea Magazine, the source claimed: "Harry just won't move on and it appears that since marrying Meghan, the obsession with his mother has only intensified. William's getting to the point where he's washing his hands of Harry for good."

The source went on to claim William no longer "recognizes" his brother and said their relationship has worsened. They suggested William was open to the idea of reconciling with his brother, but "doesn't trust" him now. The Mirror US has approached Kensington Palace for comment.

William and Harry had vowed not to talk about their mother's death again back in 2017. Speaking to ITV at the time, the Prince of Wales said: "We won't be doing this again – we won't speak as openly or publicly about her again, because we feel hopefully this film will provide the other side from close family friends you might not have heard before, from those who knew her best and from those who want to protect her memory, and want to remind people of the person that she was."

Harry repeatedly went against the promise in his debut memoir Spare. In one instance, the Duke of Sussex wrote about the last phone call he had with his mom before her death.

Harry recalled: "I wished I'd dug deep, told my mother all the things weighing on my heart, especially my regret over the last time we'd spoken on the phone. She’d called early in the evening, the night of the crash, but I was running around with Willy and my cousins and didn’t want to stop playing.

"So I’d been short with her. Impatient to get back to my games, I'd rushed Mummy off the phone. I wished I’d apologised for it. I wished I'd searched for the words to describe how much I loved her."
