Britney Spears appears to hit out at Blake Lively as she poses in 'way better' updated dress

Britney Spears seemed to take aim at Blake Lively as she posed in an "way better" updated version of the same dress the actress wore to the It Ends With Us premiere .

Last week Blake paid homage to the Princess of Pop as she stepped out in her iconic sequenced vintage Versace dress the singer wore back in 2002. But after Blake stepped out in the "actual dress" Britney wore over two decades ago, the pop singer took to Instagram sharing her own updated version of the sparkling number.

In her new post, Britney was seen spinning and throwing her blonde locks over her shoulder as she posed in a similar glamorous short dress. Under the new video, she seemingly called out Blake as she captioned the clip: "UPDATED VERSION OF MY 2002 VERSACE DRESS !!! LIKE IT WAY BETTER ... SHOWS MY LEGS !!!"

As Blake walked the red carpet last week in Manhattan, she excitedly shared that she was able to get her hands on the exact same dress that the Toxic hitmaker wore back in the day. During a red carpet interview with People, she gushed: "It is Britney's actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it's on me. I feel so lucky!"

On the day following the premiere, the 36-year-old star shared a snap of her posing in the stunning dress with Britney's hit song Everytime playing in the background. Along with the stunning red carpet shot, the blonde beauty shared a loving shoutout to the legendary pop star and gushed over how she's always been a fan of Britney's music. And while some thought it was a harmless tribute to the star, other fans thought it could be a hint she's the leading lady of Britney's future biopic .

Under the snap, Blake wrote: "Today's mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories," and added: "Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your biopic and all you have to come."
