Weeks of Olympic action in Paris came to a dramatic end with a rousing rendition of My Way.

A host of stateside celebrities had earlier helped welcome the Olympic Games head back to US soil - including a surprise appearance from Dr Dre.

The likes of Billie Eilish , Snoop Dogg and H.E.R were on hand to perform to the masses as fans from across the globe watched the Olympic Games 2024 closing ceremony, which took place in the French capital. Fans were treated to a night of music, with H.E.R giving a rousing rendition of the national anthem. Viewers were also impressed as Phoenix followed a range of orchestra-type music at the ceremony.

But it was when Tom Cruise made an emphatic entrance to take part in a daring stunt , the heat started turning up. The final scenes brings to a close a successful time for Team USA , who topped the medal charts on the final day.

Despite the dramatic ending, there was potential chaos from near enough the first moment as viewers of the closing ceremony were left far from impressed with the event's sound system.

As the closing ceremony got under way, French singer Zaho de Sagazan sang a cover of Sous le ciel de Paris by iconic French artist Edith Piaf. While she performed, fans voiced their concerns over the sound quality .

Many also found it hilarious that footage of swimming sensation Leon Marchand's apparent solo march walking through the Tuileries Gardens to the Olympic flame saw a man appearing to hide behind a bush to try to avoid being spotted . The athlete was the last act, as he entered the stadium with the flame to hand over.

But during the show, a potential trip hazard threatened to derail the event as the flag bearers took to the grounds in the Stade de France. Many viewers noticed a loose bit of carpet causing some athletes to trip while entering.

Fans online were also less than impressed with Jimmy Fallon . The comedian had already left fans disgruntled when he appeared on their screen after his past controversies. A number demanded he stopped "yapping" in their ear.

Starting on July 26 , by August 11, Team USA racked up a huge 126 podium finishes, with 40 gold medals heading back the the States. Among them, swimmer Katie Ledcecky became the most decorated female swimmer of all time, the fifth most decorated Olympian in history, and tied with Russian Olympian Larisa Latynina for most gold medals won by a woman.

Simone Biles also became the first American woman to win two Olympic all-around and vault gold medals . The US Women's Gymnastics team made up of Simone, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera won gold in the team all-around, a step up from Tokyo 2020's silver medal.

However, the Team USA outfits were ridiculed online during the closing ceremony . The uniform, which Katie Ledecky was first spotted wearing while carrying the flag, consisted of a crisp red-white-and-blue ensemble made of denim with bold USA lettering embroidered across the chest.

But fans demanded new designers next time out, with comments about their appearance ranging from space suits to NASCAR outfits. Ralph Lauren was the designer behind the looks.

The teams from across the globe initially entered the Games at the opening ceremony by traveling along the Seine River. Lady Gaga performed as well and the ceremony ended with an emotional performance from Celine Dion atop the Eiffel Tower - her first performance in years since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome.

Throughout the Games, celebrities have made appearances, with Colin Jost needing to head home early after sustaining nasty injuries. It's been a jovial Snoop Dogg who has won the hearts of the fans, though, as the rapper's attendance continued to bring joy to those watching at home.

After posting a video of himself on his Instagram, fans quickly gushed over his actions over the past weeks. "Snoop made the Olympics a whole mood," wrote one fan, while another added: "Thanks so much for bringing all your positive vibes to the Paris Olympics. You've become a must-have for the Olympics now. Definitely need you to be part of LA 2028."

The closing ceremony opened with French singer Zaho de Sagazan singing a cover of Edith Piaf's Sous le ciel de Paris. She was accompanied by the Haendel-Hendrix Academy choir, but the vocal mixing seemed off to many viewers at home.

Many social media users took to X, with one asking: "Is this supposed to sound like that?" Another wrote: "It sounds like they are doing something Unholy."
