    Scarface star Ángel Salazar dies in his sleep aged 68 after suffering 'heart issues'

    Scarface star Ángel Salazar, who famously played the role of sidekick Chi Chi, died in his sleep at 68 years old after suffering from "heart issues."

    Salazar's rep and close friend, Ann Wingsong, confirmed the tragic news to TMZ revealing that the Cuban-American comedian and actor passed away in his sleep at his friend's home in Brooklyn, New York . On Sunday, Wingsong explained that his friend went in to check on Salazar in the morning and discovered his deceased body lying in bed. Salazar's official cause of death has not yet been revealed, but Wingsong claimed he had previously faced ongoing heart problems.

    After the tragic news broke, loved ones and long-time fans of the actor took to social media sharing heartwarming tributes to the talented actor. Salazar first launched his acting career back in 1979 when he landed his very first role in the movie Boulevard Nights. Since then he's gone on to star in a number of films including his thrilling role in Scarface.

    Salazar is most widely known and loved for his iconic role in the ganger film Scarface alongside actor Al Pachino. In the movie, Salazar played Tony Montana's best friend and trusted confidant Chi Chi. Chi Chi was a henchmen and the last of Tony's associates to be killed after embarking on a dangerous mission to assassinate Emilio Rebenga.

    Outside of Scarface Salazar also starred in a number of movies including Punchline alongside Tom Hanks, Carlito's Way, The Wild Life, Maniac Cop 2, among many others. Salazar was also famed for his role the television show Last Comic Standing and many HBO Comedy specials to follow. Before his death, Salazar had not yet retired from acting and was involved in filming for a movie this year.

    The last film he was shooting was titled The Brooklyn Premiere by director Eric Spade Rivas. In the upcoming flick that is slated to wrap up filming at the end of 2024, Salazar reunited in scenes with beloved actor Steven Bauer, aka Manolo from Scarface.

    Since the heartbreaking news was announced, friends of Salazar have taken to X, formerly Twitter, sharing an outpour of love for him. Sharing a series of silly snaps together, his friend Diana Lynn Band Candy wrote: "Shocked and saddened to hear my friend Angel passed away. You will be missed thank you for making me laugh ever time we see each other. Xoxo."

    Another one of his friends named Tito Puente, Jr. shared sweet snaps embracing the actor in a hug as he penned: "Rest in peace Angel Salazar "chichi" you were an amazing actor and good friend hermano. From scarface to carlito's way your characters and comedy will be forever missed.."
