    Tributes roll in for Scarface actor Ángel Salazar after 'passing away in his sleep'

    Scarface star Ángel Salazar has died at age 68.

    The actor's death was confirmed by his close friend, Ann Wingsong, who told TMZ that Ángel passed away in his sleep while staying at a friend's house in Brooklyn, New York . She added that his friend went to check on the Cuban-American actor and found him dead in the bed.

    Ann also claimed that Ángel faced heart problems before in the past. While no official cause of death has been revealed, tributes have been pouring in for the late actor from his peers and fans alike.

    Musician Tito Puente Jr., son of the famous percussionist shared an emotional tweet for his friend on X, formally known as Twitter. "Rest in peace Ángel Salazar 'chichi' you were an amazing actor and good friend hermano. From scarface to carlito's way your characters and comedy will be forever missed," he wrote.

    TV comedy writer Adam Hunter shared a photo of him and Ángel, captioning it: "RIP to my friend Ángel Salazar. Worked together a few months ago. Comedy legend."

    One fan of the actor penned: "R.I.P. Ángel Salazar it was such a pleasure meeting you for the first and last time at @ChillerTheatre with Manny It was one of my bucket list moments and I will forever remember that. Thank you for all the entertainment over the years."

    "I was lucky enough to work with Ángel Salazar during one of the darkest times in both my comedy and personal life. It was a weekend of some growing pains onstage and off, but he was nice enough to lend moral support," another reminisced.

    Ángel was best known for his role as Chi Chi in the iconic gangster film Scarface. In the film, Chi Chi was the best friend and trusted confidant of Tony Montana (played by Al Pachino).

    He was featured in other movies like Carlito's Way and Punchline. He was also known for his role on the TV show Last Comic Standing and various other comedy specials on the platform. The actor landed his first acting role in 1979 in the film Boulevard Nights.

    The last movie that Ángel was shooting was called The Brooklyn Premiere and was set to end filming at the end of the year. It was directed by Eric Spade Rivas and also starred Steven Bauer, Ángel's fellow Scarface actor.
