Meghan Markle reportedly found an ally in the Royal Family with Sophie Wessex , who was also close with Princess Kate, a Royal insider has claimed.

The Duchess of Edinburgh, commonly lauded for her solid ties with The Firm, has been called Queen Elizabeth's "second daughter" by Royal commentator Jennie Bond, who ranks her alongside Princess Anne . According to Jennie, Sophie's warm relationships aren't limited to her immediate circle, as she's said to have extended her camaraderie to both Meghan and Kate during their transitions into Royal life .

Jennie mentioned that, amidst Kate's recent health issues, Sophie remains a steadfast pillar of support. Interviewed by OK! magazine, Jennie said: "Sophie knew exactly what lay in wait for Catherine as she joined the family and she knew it wouldn't always be easy."

Additionally, Jennie praised the Duchess's inherent caring and generous spirit. It was purportedly Queen Elizabeth herself who recommended Sophie mentor the Duchess of Sussex upon the news of Meghan's engagement to Prince Harry, as stated by another expert.

Meghan had vowed to "hit the ground running" in Royal duties, yet the Queen considered she might appreciate a guiding hand. In his book, "Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait," Royal author and friend Gyles Brandreth revealed that the Queen understood Meghan Markle might find adjusting to Royal life challenging. He wrote: "The Queen (who, of course, had seen it all before) understood that Harry's girl might find adjusting to Royal life 'challenging to begin with' (as she put it). 'It is very jolty, but you soon get used to it' that was Her Majesty's experience going back many years."

Brandreth further shared that the Queen suggested her daughter-in-law, Sophie Wessex, could be an ideal mentor for Meghan . "To help Meghan, the Queen suggested that her daughter-in-law, Sophie Wessex, would be an ideal mentor. 'Sophie can help show you the ropes,' said the Queen."

However, Meghan had other ideas. Brandreth said: "Meghan made it clear that she did not feel she needed Sophie's help. She had Harry."
