Keegan Bradley's new Ryder Cup vice captain serves as reminder of European glory

Keegan Bradley's Team USA Ryder Cup vice-captains have been announced, and they serve as a reminder of European glory in 2012.

Bradley was a surprise appointment as captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup , with an announcement being made earlier this year after the legendary Tiger Woods turned down the captaincy. The 38-year-old announced Webb Simpson would be his first vice-captain for the contest in New York, followed by Brandt Snedeker.

“As I’ve started preparing for the 2025 Ryder Cup, I quickly realized that Brandt was someone I wanted by my side,” Bradley said. “Having competed in two Ryder Cups, including a stellar individual performance in 2016, Brandt’s experience and insight will surely be beneficial to our team in the months ahead.”

Both of Bradley's vice-captains created a leadership trio that competed in the spectacular 2012 collapse to Europe at Medinah. Europe achieved one of the greatest comebacks in Ryder Cup history by winning eight and tying one of the 12 singles matches, and Bradley and Co. will want to avoid a repeat next year.

Snedeker, 43, also competed 2016 Ryder Cup, winning at Hazeltine on his second appearance in the competition. “I am so grateful to Keegan and the PGA of America for giving me the opportunity to represent my country in the role of vice-captain,” the nine-time PGA Tour winner said.

“The Ryder Cup is unlike anything in our sport, and I hope to bring the passion and pride to help Keegan deliver his vision of what a Ryder Cup in New York should look like.

"I am so excited to serve alongside my good friend Webb and know we will do everything in our power to help Keegan and the players be ready for a great competition next September at Bethpage Black.”

Bradley appeared on Barstool’s Fore Play podcast earlier this month and discussed possible changes he'll make to the Ryder Cup roster selection process. Bradley might opt for the top eight players to made it automatically on the U.S. team, instead of just the top six.

“I just think, you do six and six, the way it’s done, [I think] if you finish seventh or eighth on the list, you should be on the team,” Bradley said.

“But then I came to the realization of: if I’m in charge of choosing the team, if I think seven and eight should be on the team, then I can just do that, so there’s no real point in changing it.”
