Jeopardy! 2024 Tournament of Champions finalist Yogesh Raut has dished on opponent James Holzhauer's less-than-thrilled reaction to his brutal defeat.

After being crowned second place in the Tournament of Champions behind Victoria Groce , Raut has been basking in the glory of the impressive title and reflecting on his run during the famous gameshow. And as James Holzhauer, self-described as the "Jeopardy final boss," faced the devastating loss this season Raut has shared his first-hand perception of Holzhauer's reaction.

Speaking on James' body language during the first round of the Tournament, Raut told The US Sun: "After the first game, [James] cocooned a little bit. I got the sense he was not thrilled with himself and his performance, but that’s how Jeopardy! works."

And while Raut didn't bring home this year's champion title either, he was previously crowned winner of the 2023 tournament during which he brought home the impressive $250,000 grand cash prize. Speaking on the win, he humbly explained that Jeopardy! has many factors involved including luck, which was something he admitted he had a lot of that night.

In a post-victory interview, Raut said that the win: "feels good,” and added: “I didn’t come in with any kind of expectation. I played many practice games. I knew it was a game based on both skill and luck. When I succeeded, it was a combination of skill and other people’s bad luck.”

During Raut's run he was at the receiving end of a fair amount of hate online including criticism towards how he was slamming the buzzer and being told he had "no personality" and "no sense of humor" on the show. After catching wind of his public perception, Raut defended himself and blamed the show's topic choices for his lack of interest to viewers.

Raut explained: "The big narrative being pushed about me is that I lacked personality and a sense of humor. They did lean – in terms of the anecdotes – they essentially dictated what my anecdotes were. I know I got a lot of blowback, but I didn’t choose what any of those topics were," and added: "I dont think [Jeopardy!] thought those would get as negative a reaction as they did."
