Johnny Depp looked unrecognizable as he was seen strolling the streets of London like "paint-covered hobo" after stepping away from the spotlight and reinventing himself into a Bohemian artist .
After the former Pirates of the Caribbean star stepped away from the spotlight, he has been spotted stepping back into his pirate roots as he has been frequently seen stepping out in scruffy clothes, beaten up shoes, and seen with "brown teeth rotted by years of boozing and smoking".
The 61-year-old actor is said to have been spending most of his time lately tucked away in a townhouse in Soho and seemingly has no intentions of coming back to America as he refers to himself as an "Anglophile." A source told RadarOnline : "And he basically dresses like a tramp to avoid any attention. He’s regularly spotted in Soho with a massive hat hiding his face and in clothes and shoes that just make him look like one of the city’s hobos."

The insider continued: "His teeth are brown as h--- now due to his smoking, and he’s always seen with a bit of a ridiculous cigarillo hanging out of mouth," and added: "Because there are so many oddball characters in Soho, he just passes by thousands of people every day on his walks to pick up paints and supplies without anyone asking him for so much as an autograph or a selfie.”
But despite his disheveled appearance, the insider confirmed that Depp "loves the anonymity” of living in Soho and is fond of his new life. According to reports, the former Edward Scissorhands star has been living in London for the past six months where he is renting a lavish townhouse featuring a thriving garden where he writes music and paints. The former Hollywood icon has shared a number of exhibitions of his art, including paintings of his favorite haunted locations and colorful portraits of famous figures.
On Depp's website showcasing his newly-created artwork that he sells for thousands, the former Alice in Wonderland star shared a statement about his lifestyle change. The actor said in part: "For many years I really held myself strictly to just the day job of the film business," and continued: "When I just decided not to limit myself any more and go public with my art, I thought that if people go for it that’s great and if not, that’s alright too. But the fact that it seemed for the most part to be a very positive reaction to these strange things I have put on canvas."
