Katie Holmes make rare comment about Suri Cruise, giving insight on their relationship

Katie Holmes spoke out about her daughter, Suri Noelle , formerly known as Suri Cruise .

Suri, 18, is the daughter of Katie and Tom Cruise and is gearing up to start a new chapter of her life, college. Many noticed that the actress and actor's daughter changed her name to honor her mother, going by "Suri Noelle" at her high school graduation ceremony. Noelle is her mom's middle name.

Suri and her father Tom reportedly do not speak due to Tom being a part of the Church of Scientology, where members are encouraged to distance themselves from non-members. He was not seen at her 18th birthday in April as she celebrated with her mother.

In an interview with Town & Country , Katie spoke about her daughter saying she was "proud" of her and that she would "miss the close proximity" since Suri is to spread her wings and head to college. Nonetheless, Katie is "really proud of her and happy." This comment comes as a surprise since Katie and Suri try to keep their relationship private.

Katie then reminisced about the days when she attended Columbia University in New York City. Ahead of it being revealed where Suri would be attending. she made a slight hint when she was spotted wearing a Carnegie Melon sweatshirt on a "decision day" in a classmates TikTok.

She said: "I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that."

Katie and Tom were married from November 18, 2006 to August 20, 2012. Suri is not Tom's only child as he shares two, Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29, with ex Nicole Kidman. The last time Tom and Suri were spotted together in public was in 2012, when the two were seen visiting Disneyland.

Suri was recently spotted on August 10, strolling around the City of New York wearing a comfy outfit, comprising of a blue tank top, black cutoff sweatpants and white sneakers with specks of orange and blue in them. Just a day later, her father was showcasing his stunt moves during the 2024 Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony .
