Princess Kate has shared a heartbreaking message amid her ongoing cancer treatment .

The mother-of-three was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year after undergoing planned abdominal surgery, and has been taking time away from the spotlight ever since to undergo preventative chemotherapy.

While announcing her diagnosis to the public, the Princess of Wales urged others facing the disease to 'not lost faith or hope', adding, 'you are not alone'.

And she broke her silence in a moving letter to the family of a father-of-two who has sadly died from the illness. She and William reached out personally to the family of pizza van owner Peter Morris, who they met during a visit to Dowlais Rugby Club in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, following his death in May.

Peter, who started his Little Dragon Pizza Van company back in 2016, had previously survived oesophageal cancer. However, just four months after William and Kate's visit in April 2023, Peter learned the disease was in his adrenal gland and liver. He passed away at the age of just 47.

William and Kate were saddened by the loss of Pete, whose cancer journey no doubt resonated amid Kate's recent health concerns, and penned a letter of condolence to his widow Tracey, written on official Kensington Palace notepaper.

The message, which was read aloud at his funeral, has now been published in The Sun . It reads as follows: "We can only begin to imagine what an immense hole he will leave in your life and my heart goes out to you and your family.

"Catherine and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Pete. We know that Pete was a hugely dedicated and highly valued member of the community which has been evident from the response to his passing. I did want you to know just how much you and your family are in our thoughts at this time."

Tracey, 40, told the publication: "It came as a massive surprise. I don't even know how they found out Pete had died. It may have hit a chord with them because Kate is going through treatment. He said how down-to-earth they were. We had so many letters from people who loved Pete but the one from William and Kate was very special."

During their visit to Pete's converted VW-turned-pizza van, the Prince and Princess of Wales spent £127.50 on 12 pizzas for the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, which included toppings such as margarita, pepperoni, BBQ chicken and goat cheese.

Following Pete's passing, the van is still in business, with a recent charity evening held in memory of Pete raising more than £150 for Hospice of the Valleys. A touching message shared on the business's Facebook page after the event stated: "We are increasingly grateful for the customer base that we have."

Back in May, the Little Dragon team announced Pete's passing via Instagram, paying tribute to his 'dedication and enthusiasm'. They wrote: "We are saddened to inform you about the loss of our owner, Peter Morris. In 2016 Pete established Little Dragon Pizza, his dedication, enthusiasm, and effort have shaped the business into what it is today. Over the past eight years, Pete has given everyone great memories and great food.

"We were fortunate to call him as our boss and friend. His contagious passion will be remembered. We are committed to continuing the hard work he invested his time in and do him proud."
