    Eugene and Dan Levy set to make history as they're announced as hosts of 76th Emmy Awards

    Eugene and Dan Levy will host the upcoming 76th Emmy Awards .

    The duo will make history as the first father and son to host the show . It was announced on Good Morning America on Friday morning.

    Eugene and Dan are best known for starring as father and son Johnny and David Rose on the critically acclaimed show Schitt's Creek. They also created the show together.

    They previously made history four years ago at the Emmys when they were the first father and son to win Emmy Awards the same year. Eugene won for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series while Dan won for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

    They've previously shared a stage at an award show as well at the 2020 SAG Awards during the opening monologue. The reaction online from the fans about the host announcement.

    "I might actually watch the Emmys this year," one fan wrote on X, formally known as Twitter. Another added: "Great selection! I bet the ratings will be excellent."

    A third boasted that this was the "best choice in years" that the show could have made. A fourth wished: "The Oscars/@TheAcademy, too, someday, hopefully!"

    The nominees for the Primetime Emmy Awards were announced last month. The Bear made history this year earning 23 nominations, the most in a single season for a show in the comedy category. The record was previously held by 30 Rock which earned 22 nods in 2009.

    FX drama Shogun has the highest number of nominations in the drama category with 25 total. The highly acclaimed limited series Baby Reindeer earned 12 nominations.

    The 76th Emmy Awards will take place in Los Angeles at the Peacock Theater on September 15 at 8pm EST.

    Last year's show was hosted by Anthony Anderson and took place in January 2024 instead of the September before like usual due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood at the time. That year, the most nominations went to Succession, which had its last season that year, with 27.
