Epic Games took to X this week to announce the timeline of the new update that contains Absolute Doom. Servers shut down Thursday night at 10 p.m. CT, shuttering matchmaking until developers complete the maintenance upgrade to v31.00 and officially bring Chapter 5 Season 3 to an end. "Absolute Doom approaches the Battle Royale Island… menacingly!" Fortnite posted: "Downtime begins [Thursday], 8/15, at 11 pm ET, with matchmaking disabled shortly beforehand."
How long will the servers be down?
When it comes to Epic Games , more specifically Fortnite, one can't be too certain about the duration of a maintenance update especially when it's introducing a completely new season. However, past transitions from season to season suggest it will take about four hours to complete, according to the website Polygon.
Marvel Absolute Doom should be up and running by Friday, August 16 around 2 a.m. CT. Players shouldn't take those words to heart, though, because the update can take longer than expected. The transition to Chapter 5 Season 2 in March was delayed. The trailer for the latest Marvel collab debuted at the Fortnite D23 event on Aug 10.
