Tom Brady found himself on the receiving end of boos from the crowd during his NYC Fanaticsfest panel after making a remark about hometown New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones .

The "True Grit" show, which was packed with fans rocking Brady's jerseys from his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots , and even his college days at Michigan, took a tense turn when explainng his approach to critiquing quarterbacks as a broadcaster. The retired quarterback, known for an intense self-critical reputation during his playing days, shared insights into how he assesses performances in the NFL , both his own and others.

"I was very critical about the way I played in the NFL. And I was very critical about the way that our team[s] played in the NFL," Brady explained to media in attendance, including The Mirror U.S.

He then delved into the challenges he would face during his broadcast career regarding holding back his true feelings while on air. "The expectations for performance that I had were very, very, very high. So, the most challenging thing is when I see something and when I think, 'Oh, that was horrible'. Like, I just can't say that on TV," he said.

When asked by moderator Stephen A. Smith why he couldn't be as honest as he'd like to be, Brady replied, "Well, because there's parents and there's family members, so I don't want to always necessarily say it in that way." He elaborated on how he would critique himself harshly, adding: "If I threw a really bad interception, I would walk to the sidelines and say, 'You are the worst quarterback in the world. How can you possibly make that throw? That was terrible.'"

But, it was the seven-time Super Bowl winner's attempt to illustrate his point with a hypothetical involving Jones that sparked the crowd's reaction. Brady said: "Let's say Daniel Jones throws an interception," using the Giants QB as an example. "Let's see if I can be as critical as Daniel Jones."

The comment was perceived as a dig at the Giants QB from the crowd and immediately drew boos from the audience, despite the sea of Brady supporters in attendance. The loyalty to New York football was on full display, despite the struggles faced throughout the five years as the team's signal caller.

Through the duration of his Giants career, Jones has thrown for 12,512 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 40 interceptions., culminating into a 85.2 career passer rating. Jones is still recovering from a torn ACL endured against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8 last season.

He did not participate in the Giants first preseason game against the Detroit Lioins but head coach Brian Daboll noted that his franchise player would more than likely see the field during the final preseason game against the Houston Texans . The franchise also documented their belief in Jones on TV during their offseason feature of "Hard Knocks," where team General Manager Joe Schoen chose to keep the QB over two-time Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley.
