John Rahm has revealed he has found “joy” in LIV Golf as the players battle it out for the championship amid revelations he wants to return to the PGA Tour .

Rahm is said to have second thoughts regarding his defection to the Saudi-backed league. According to Golf Digest , they say an anonymous “veteran tour insider” is certain Rahm would give the money back to the Saudis if it meant quitting the tour earlier. “I am 100 percent positive that if Jon could give the money back to the Saudis and come back to the tour, he couldn't write the check fast enough,” the source is alleged to have said.

However, Rahm put a brave face on while speaking to the media ahead of his first round at The Greenbrier, where he spoke on the battle to top the LIV players’ standings. The two-time major winner is currently second behind 25-year-old Chilean Joaquin Niemann.

Rahm also lauded his title rival and the U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, who returns to the scene of his incredible 58-shot victory to claim his first individual LIV Golf title. “I think that’s something maybe more in my mind come Sunday, today is just the beginning, I just want to start the right way,” he said.

“It’s always a joy to play with players like Bryson and Joaquin. They didn’t have the best day especially Joaquin on the greens, he played beautiful to the green and didn’t make really any. I wouldn’t be surprised if those two were to make a comeback on the weekend. (They’re) more than capable, one of them has done it with shots to spare. There’s still a long way to go to be thinking about the individual championship.”

Despite the murmurs about his future, Rahm’s mindset appears in the right place ahead of a pivotal title in the standings race. The Spaniard won his first individual LIV title of the year in the United Kingdom at the JCB Golf & Country Club in Rocester last time out, edging Niemann to victory who finished tied-second with Cameron Smith and Tyrell Hatton.

Rahm’s Legion XIII are also chasing the team championship, with them currently second to DeChambeau’s Crushers GC. However, Rahm is yet to achieve the same success and attention from fans as he did on the PGA Tour as a Masters and U.S. Open champion and a former world No.1.

“Now there are only four times a year when he's playing that anybody is remotely interested,” the insider added on Rahm’s reported desire to quit the breakaway organization. “He thought his stature in the game was secure no matter where he was playing, and it was a bad miscalculation.”
