As Meghan Markle continued her tradition of honoring local designers while on her latest foreign tour to Colombia, the Duchess of Sussex once again learnt her sartorial support to another rising star in the South American nation. On the second day of her tour, which took place on August 16, the 43-year-old royal stepped out in style by wearing a a skirt designed by Colombian brand Juan De Dios for a trip to the Centro de Rehabilitación Inclusiva in Bogotá , alongside husband Prince Harry .

Teaming the chic patterned garment with a white button-down shirt tucked into the Amaime Silk Martellato Midi Skirt, Meghan oozed casual chic as she met with Colombian veterans and members of the country’s Invictus Games team at a special reception alongside Vice President Francia Márquez . The stylish skirt was the second garment created by a Colombian designer worn by Meghan on the trip, yet as well as honoring the host nation, it also held a special significance to Harry and Meghan in particular, as the brand champions female empowerment, something that is near and dear to their own charity The Archewell Foundation ’s core ethos.

Founded by entrepreneurs Maria Fernanda Valencia and Isabella Gutierrez, the brand has stores in both Bogotá and Cali, two of the cities the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are visiting on their trip. Firmly committed to social responsibility and gives back to the local area, all of the pieces in the collection are "made in Colombia by women head-of-household using artisanal methods and recyclable yarn fabrics," its website states.

In addition, the brand also gives back to the local community, with 5% of all online sales donated to the El Banco de Alimentos Cali Foundation, an organization which provides meals to those in need in the Cali area.

"To represent Latin American design across the globe; to exemplify effortless sophistication; to blend Colombia’s artisanal heritage with versatility, fine quality, innovation and environmentally friendly practices," Juan De Dios continues.

The covetable fashion statement marked the second time Meghan had opted to wear a Colombian designer's work on her four-day trip, with the Duchess having sported a metallic gold, red and pink dress by Colombian-born designer Johanna Ortiz on day one of her trip last week.

Although there was a special significance in wearing the dress for a trip to the designer's home country, it is far from the first time that the Duchess has worn Ortiz's dresses, with the designer's work even having made an appearance earlier this year at the Women of Vision Awards: Celebrating Generations of Progress & Power in New York City.
