    Godfather II and Full House actor John Aprea dies at home in Los Angeles

    John Aprea has died aged 83. The actor passed away in his Los Angeles home.

    The actor died on Aug. 5, his manager Will Levine confirmed to TMZ. He was surrounded by his family as he passed.

    He was born in New Jersey before moving to New York in the 60s. After living out his East Coast dreams, he moved to Los Angeles, landing a gig in Hollywood. He made appearances in the Steve McQueen movie Bulitt and on the 1981 NBC miniseries The Gangster Chronicles. The star went on to play some majorly iconic roles, including in Godfather II and the television series Full House.

    On the sitcom, he played the father of John Stamos' character, Nick Katsopolis . He later joined the cast of Fuller House in 2017 for the show's revival.

    John notably auditioned for the role Michael Corleone in The Godfather. However, it was eventually played by Al Pacino. Luckily, he still landed role in the franchise, but this time as young Salvatore Tessio.

    He cemented his legacy early on, but continued pursuing his acting career for the years to follow. John played Jack Madison in crime-drama series The Bay. The show's creator and showrunner Gregori J. Martin said in a statement from the show's social media account: "It was such a great honor to have the privilege of working with an icon like John on The Bay.

    "I have always been a fan of his work and he was a true gentleman and absolute pro who brought some beautiful moments to the role of Jack in these later seasons. We will all miss him dearly."

    John's former co-star Paul Carafotes said: "I just heard that my old pal, friend passed away. We had lots of laughs. We met on the set of CBS television show Knots Landing, 1987. Many will miss this man! Rest old friend. I'll see you on the other side."

    A fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: "I'm so sorry to hear of John Aprea's passing. This news was announced late Saturday night. I am just heartbroken to hear it, I just loved him so much."
