Brooks Koepka issues perfect response to 'horrible' comment at Jon Rahm's expense

Brooks Koepka secured victory at LIV Golf Greenbrier to cap off a 2024 season after his “horrible” major performances .

After lamenting his poor season, Koepka secured his second win of the LIV Golf season by overcoming a two-stroke deficit with a final round 63. Koepka claimed victory in a playoff over Jon Rahm , finishing at 19 under.

The American clinched his fifth title on the 54-hole circuit and his first since the week before the PGA Championship. He now has a league-high five LIV Golf victories individually, while his Smash GC squad claimed the team competition over Ripper GC thanks to impressive performances from Talor Gooch and Jason Kokrak.

“I think this is probably my favorite one,” Koepka said. “It’s always good when you battle good players. I battled Gooch for a while last year, felt like every tournament, but yeah, Jon is a hell of a player. For whatever reason, he's always got the better of me a little bit as of late. So, it feels nice just to get one.”

Koepka had been in a more spiteful mood following his first round at Greenbrier. He pointed to his struggles in the biggest tournaments, declaring: “This year has not been great. This year has been actually very disappointing. I haven't played anywhere what I want to play.

“Played absolutely horrible in all the majors and only won once out here, so that's not anywhere where I want it.”

While Koepka made each cut at the four majors, he failed to contend. The five-time major champion tied for 45th at the Masters, before back-to-back tied-26th finishes at the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open . His final hunt for a sixth major win this year came at The Open Championship last month, where he finished tied-43rd.

Koepka’s performance this week has strengthened his position in the individual standings, moving up to seventh following his win. In the team standings, his Smash setup finds themselves fourth in the list, with the season-ending Team Championship approaching.

Meanwhile, Rahm was aiming for a second-straight win on the LIV Golf circuit after his blockbuster switch from the PGA Tour , a deal reportedly worth up to $600 million. The Spaniard remains in contention for glory in the LIV Golf individual championship - which features a $4 million prize for the victor - as he sits atop the season standings after winning the last tournament in Uttoxeter, England.
