Sunken superyacht captain exhibits bizarre behavior at hospital and gives chilling five word confession

The captain of the ill-fated superyacht has made a chilling five-word confession following the disastrous sinking off the coast of Sicily on Monday. James Catfield, who was at the helm of the vessel that sank near Porticello, close to Palermo, confessed: "We didn't see it coming."

Catfield was reportedly seen looking "limp" as he waited outside an emergency room in the town of Termini Imerese. The captain was taken to the small town, accompanied by four other survivors from the Bayesian.

The luxury yacht, owned by British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch , fell victim to the sea after being caught in a severe storm around the Italian island at approximately 5am on Monday.

It's believed that the $40million superstructure was just 700 metres away from safety when its mast was broken by the storm, causing it to lose balance. One body has been recovered, believed to be the ship's chef, while rescue teams are preparing to search the wreckage for the six people still missing, according to the Mirror.

Those missing include Mr Lynch, his daughter Hannah, 18, his lawyer Christopher Morvilla and his wife Nada, as well as Morgan Stanley International chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy. Meanwhile, Mr Lynch's wife and 14 others survived, reports Wales Online .

Italian rescue teams resumed their search for the missing around 6:30am local time today (Tuesday, August 20), as reported by La Repubblica. British investigators are also due to join the search once they arrive in Palermo today.

The disaster comes after Lynch was acquitted earlier this year of conducting a massive fraud over the sale of software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard back in 2011. It is believed that the tragedy happened while Lynch and other passengers were celebrating his legal victory.

Lynch was extradited to the US in 2023, where he stated, on being handed over to authorities, that they "put chains round me."

He was eventually released on bail for $100million but remained under house arrest. He faced two decades in prison had he been convicted of the 17 charges against him.

The father of Ayla Ronald, a lawyer from Clifford Chance who was part of the legal team representing Lynch in court, said she had been celebrating. "I have texted with my daughter and she hasn't given me any updates about missing personnel or saved personnel" her father, Lin, told The Telegraph.

"She has only said to me that there are deaths, and she and her partner are alive."
