Dustin Johnson’s post-LIV Golf plan revealed after sending clear message to PGA Tour

Dustin Johnson appears to have already set out his plan for retirement, with the LIV Golf star looking ahead and past his playing days on the breakaway circuit.

Johnson became one of the marquee names to leave the PGA Tour and join the LIV setup, having signed a deal worth around $125 million with Greg Norman and co. And throughout season one the two-time major champion proved a dominant figure, beginning with his first LIV win in Boston.

That campaign, the 40-year-old went on to become the Saudi-backed series' first individual champion, before later completing a dominant double, after swooping the maiden Team Championship with the 4Aces.

While he has failed to replicate this since, Johnson has added another two LIV crowns in the past two seasons, winning in Tulsa in May last year, as well as Las Vegas earlier this term. There is no doubt Johnson has plenty of years left out on the golf course at the top level, having been one of the greatest players of his generation.

Having turned 40 though, one eye does appear to be on retirement according to the 4Aces General Manager Chris Rosaasen. Speaking about the future of his colleague, Rosaasen revealed Johnson will remain a part of the LIV franchise long after his playing days.

"DJ is a captain and owner of the team so his name will theoretically be associated with this for all time,” Rosaasen told Bunkered. “But he wouldn’t argue this. I don’t think he’s going to be playing 15 years from now." His eventual departure will of course see a new wave of players joining both the LIV league and the 4Aces.

And the former PGA Tour's manager has revealed there is a plan in place to create a 'minor league' model to bring through the next generation. "He and I have sat down and said ‘How are we going to build the foundations for what this team is?’ It's even to scout kids who might be able to be on this team 5-10 years from now," he added.

“We’re building the budget for next year to start outfitting these guys so it's almost like the minor leagues for 4Aces. So we contact these guys who we think might be good and it's like ‘Hey why don’t we sponsor you now?’ Wear the 4aces kit in all your other competitions and we’re starting to start you guys early.

“Even down to high school. It’s crazy how young these guys are turning pro these days. You’ve got to start looking early, for sure. This has all started happening in the last couple months that we’ve started thinking that way.”

He already retired. Been going through the motions since he took his big payday. One of the worst careers with the amount of talent he has. Should just retire now and finish his partying.
