Jeopardy! fans have slammed the show for being "inconsistent" after one player just missed out on taking home $6,000.

While Jeopardy! is currently on hiatus until September 9 , old episodes have been airing so fans can still get their fix of their favorite quiz show. One re-run has left fans fuming and it's the episode featuring player Terry O'Shea.

The software engineer went up against Matt Jackson and Alan Lin and she seemed to be doing well in the game until the Final Jeopardy! question. Host Ken Jennings gave the contestants the clue: "Captured in Egypt by the British Army 1801” is painted on the side of this artifact named for the city where it was found."

Terry gave the answer: "What is Rosetta," but it wasn't accepted by Ken. Instead, he said the correct answer was: "What is Rosetta Stone."

Fans have been left furious with the decision, with one person claiming Matt was allowed to give partial answers. Taking to Reddit, one viewer wrote: "Okay so on todays episode Terry Shaw for the final answer wrote down 'what is Rosetta' And Ken goes and tells her 'sorry that’s not good enough' after Matt Jackson hadn’t been saying full answers all night long.

"I'm not even a stickler for full answers, but at least be consistent, poor Terry lost 6 grand on the decision of jeopardy to be inconsistent tonight." However, other people insisted the show made the right decision.

"Rosetta isn't an artifact. The Rosetta Stone is," one person explained. "There are pretty well agreed upon standards in trivia about how much is enough for a correct response. That clearly doesn't meet them."

Another added: "She misread the question and gave the wrong answer *shrug*," while a third insisted she wouldn't have won anyway, commenting: "The game was a runaway anyway."

Someone else wrote: "Not quoting the entire question has nothing to do with not answering questions correctly. Besides that, I think the double Jeopardy round has different rules than the first round about quoting the entire question? But regardless, Rosetta is a town. The Rosetta Stone is the artifact."
