Tom Brady's voice cheekily raised as a concern ahead of broadcast debut

Tom Brady's predecessor with the New England Patriots, Drew Bledsoe, has taken a cheeky shot at the iconic quarterback ahead of his new broadcasting role for the 2024 season .

Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX Sports before he retired in 2022 , and he is now just two weeks away from stepping into the role - one in which many former players have thrived in. Bledsoe believes he'll follow in that trend.

Over the last few years, former players Tony Romo, Greg Olsen, and the McCourty Twins all have quickly transitioned to impress in the booth, while Peyton and Eli Manning host their own play-by-play show which has been widely praised.

Speaking on what he expects from Brady beginning in his new role this season, Bledsoe could not help throw a jab at his former teammate, when he said: "I know that Tommy will work it to death... I will get kind of tired of his squeaky ass voice, but I know he'll do a great job calling the games".

He added: "It's the guys that do the work that are great at it and it's really that simple when you look at it. You look at Aikman, you look at Romo... I mean everyone looks at Romo like he's predicting the future. Well, he went to practice and he saw what they ran from that formation and that's what they did."

Bledsoe had played alongside Brady for two years, being the starter above him before suffering a brutal knee injury which saw the latter take his spot - and never gave it back after guiding the Patriots to a Super Bowl in his first full season.

Brady would go on to remain with the Patriots for 20 seasons, winning six Super Bowl championships before winning another with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - cementing his legacy as the greatest of all time.

After retiring after the 2022 season, Brady decided to take a year away from the sport before returning, but in a much different setting as a color commentator.

The 46-year-old will join play-by-play voice Kevin Burkhardt as the co-commentator in Cleveland on September 8 as the Browns host Dallas in Week 1 of the regular season. The seven-time Super Bowl winner will take Greg Olsen's place on FOX's number one team.
