Ja’Marr Chase takes first step towards ending holdout in huge Cincinnati Bengals update

Ja'Marr Chase has practiced with the Cincinnati Bengals for the first time this season after looking for a new contract with the superstar wide receiver seemingly ending his holdout.

The wide receiver had been with the team throughout training camp but has not been practicing in pads, while working on his game individually in the hopes of being extended while entering the final year of his rookie contract .

But on Sunday afternoon, Chase put the pads on for the first time go through drills with his teammates in an encouraging sing that he may be willing to play another season on his rookie-scale deal.

Chase has been sensational since entering the league as the fifth-overall draft pick in 2021, rejoining Joe Burrow after spending a year together and winning the National Championship with LSU - both being drafted to the Bengals in back-to-back years.

The 24-year-old has registered 3,717 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns in his first three years while being one of the more dominant players at the position in the league.

After playing three years in the league, players are eligible for contract extensions, with numerous players in Chase's draft class already receiving extensions - including Trevor Lawrence, Landon Dickerson and Penei Sewell.

However, Chase has yet to receive his extension, and he hopes to make close to the $35 million that his former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson received from the Minnesota Vikings this past summer.

Despite Chase being deserving of becoming the highest paid player at his position, he has indicated that he could take less money in the hopes of keeping the Bengals' past players together - including fellow wide receiver Tee Higgins who also hopes for a new contract.

When asked how much he'd like to be paid, Chase told reporters earlier this year: "It depends how much I'm taking. It depends at the end of the day. Because then I might not really be taking a cut, they might cut someone else. It might come from somewhere else. I mean it makes everyone else around us better (if he takes a pay cut)."
