Kate Middleton shows exactly how she's feeling with three subtle signs on rare public outing

The Princess of Wales showed three key but subtle signs that indicated how she is feeling , according to a prominent body language expert.

Judi James told Daily Mirror that Princess Kate was "chatty and animated" during a public outing at the royal residence in Balmoral, Scotland. Kate's public appearances have been limited this year following her cancer diagnosis. Speaking to The Mirror , Judi said: "Kate looks chatty and animated here and as she turns her head to speak her brows are raised." Kate was seen in the passenger of a car driven by her husband the Prince of Wales. Judi also said Kate looked "relaxed".

She added: "But there is one even stronger sign of authentic, relaxed happiness. We can see her teeth gleaming in a smile that is mirrored by William's smile as they drive to church."

Judi continued: "The important 'tell' though comes from the very distinct dimple we can see at the side of her cheek, which suggests she's truly enjoying the outing as well as the company in the car. The hat with its feather gives a jaunty look too, making Kate look positive and upbeat here."

Kate joined her husband, Prince William, and the King and Queen at Crathie Church near Balmoral in Scotland. Prince George was also spotted in the back seat of the vehicle when Kate was spotted earlier today. King Charles and Queen Camilla were also seen on the way to the service, while Prince Edward traveled in a different vehicle. A guard of honor made up of pipers from the Scottish Balaklava company greeted the monarch on his arrival.

Kate made her first public appearance after announcing her diagnosis at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London in June, and gave Carlos Alcaraz his championship trophy at Wimbledon in July.

Ahead of her Trooping the Colour appearance in June, she released a statement in which she spoke about her recovery. She said: "I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days," the princess said. "On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."

"My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."

It is understood her outing on Sunday is the first time she will have been seen publicly since the grand slam tennis tournament, although she and William shared a video message earlier this month congratulating Team GB athletes after the Paris Olympics.

Crathie Kirk has been a regular place of worship for the Royal Family during their stays at Balmoral for over a century. A private service was held there for members of the Royal Family in September 2022 after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and the royals also went to a Sunday service there in 1997 following the death of Princess Diana.
