Keegan Bradley completes emotional career first with BMW Championship win

Keegan Bradley was full of emotion after winning the BMW Championship on Sunday - the first time he's won a PGA Tour event in front of his father.

Bradley shot a 276 and won the tournament by one stroke, with Sam Burns, Ludvig Aberg, and Adam Scott all tying for second place. Team USA's Ryder Cup captain earned $3.6 million for the victory and shot a 72 in the final round, with just two bogeys.

"I can't even wrap my head around it," said Bradley after the win of my slim margins. "I’m in a bit of a state of shock because there was a time a week ago about this time that I didn’t think I was going to be coming here. I had to have a lot of magical things happen for me to just play in this tournament, and when I got here, I was so grateful just to be here. I played with a real sense of calm all week, which is not the norm for me."

Sunday marked Bradley's seventh PGA Tour win and the second time he's won the BMW Championship , but the victory doesn't earn him points to play in the Ryder Cup. Team USA players earned points in 2024 based on their performances at the Masters, Players Championship, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open. Next year, more PGA Tour events will carry points.

He also made it clear that despite the PGA Tour and LIV Golf having friction, he won't consider the difference in tours when selecting players. “I'm going to have the best 12 players, so the PGA of America... we're going to have the 12 best players," he said. "So they need to figure that out if that's their problem.

“I know you have to be a PGA (of America) member to play in the Ryder Cup. That's the only stipulation that you need. So we'll make sure if some of those guys that we think might make the team, we'll make sure that they are a member.”

He didn't make the Ryder Cup USA team for the 2022 season after his predecessor Zach Johnson didn't select him. Bradley's omission was criticized on the internet as speculation pointed to the captains choosing closer friends over the hot hand.

According to the Official World Golf Rankings [OWGR], Bradley is the No. 11 ranked player, with the BMW win earning him 59 points in the standings. He's earned three top-ten finishes in 2024, including tying for second during the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Sony Open in Hawaii.
