Zach Wilson showed no issues with the Denver Broncos choosing Bo Nix as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season. While Wilson has shown promise in the preseason, Nix's play through two early showings all but earned him the job.

Wilson took the reigns for the job in the third preseason matchup, where Denver won 38-12 against the Arizona Cardinals in dominating fashion. The former second-overall NFL Draft pick went 16 for 25 with 251 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

Jarrett Stidham, who also played in the unofficial depth chart decider, was only showcased for four throws, completing two passes for just 28 yards. After the match, Wilson shared that he was excited for Nix to land the starting job despite a good showing of his own.

"I was excited for him. I don’t think it was a surprise too much, right? I think he’s had a great camp," said Wilson to the media . "I told him I’m excited for him with this opportunity. I really believe they’re putting him in a good situation."

"I think Sean has done a phenomenal job, and [the coaches] we hang out with [Davis Webb, Joe Lombardi, Peter Carmichael, John Morton], we have a great offensive staff," he continued. "And then Bo has just continued to keep getting better. I’m excited to see what he can do, and I think he’s ready for it."

On the other hand, Stidham was disappointed with hearing the news despite a less-than-desirable preseason showcase. The 28-year-old veteran threw for just 130 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. "Obviously, I was very disappointed. I know I’m a starting quarterback in this league. I have zero doubts about that. It just didn’t shake out my way. But I know what kind of player I am," he told the media.

"The kind of person I am. I’ll be ready to go if I need to be," he continued. "And yeah, like I said, I have no doubts I’m a starting-caliber quarterback in this league.”

Nix was selected with the No. 12 pick in the draft and completed 23 out of 30 passes for 205 passing yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. The first-year QB led Denver on four straight scoring drives in his debut , resulting in a 34-30 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

He missed just one pass in his second showing against the Green Bay Packers , going 8-for-9 for 80 yards, including a touchdown to second-year wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. Bronco's head coach, Sean Payton, held Nix in high regard throughout the preseason, suggesting he would eventually be named for the starting role. Before drafting Nix, Payton never selected a college quarterback for one of his teams within the first two rounds.
