Why Keegan Bradley will earn NO Ryder Cup points despite BMW Championship win

U.S. 2025 Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley will not earn any points for his win at the BMW Championship at the weekend.

Bradley, 38, held his nerve during the final round to clinch victory in the BMW Championship at Castle Pines, winning by one stroke from Australia's Adam Scott. He came into the Sunday with a one-shot lead - but three straight bogeys by Scott set up a nail-biting finish.

It was Bradley's seventh PGA Tour title and first since last year's Travelers Championship. "Oh, man, it just shows why you've got to grind it out every week because you never know how fast it can switch," Bradley said. "Now I go to Atlanta with a chance to win the FedEx Cup. I can't believe it. I'm so excited."

However, with the Ryder Cup coming up next year, Bradley received no points to his total, with the captain sitting 26th overall in the U.S. standings. The reason for this is that the only events that will receive points are The Players Championship, and the four Major Championships: The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open.

Bradley says he wants to earn his spot to play in the Ryder Cup and confirmed he will not pick himself if he falls short. "No, I will either make the team on points - I don't see myself picking - I'm not going to pick myself," he told the Ryder Cup website .

"The only way that would happen is if the team was insisting on it, but even if they did, I don't see that happening. I want to make the team on points, otherwise I'm going to be the Captain."

Bradley will be the youngest captain for the United States in decades and could also compete in next month’s Presidents Cup. “I’m happy to do whatever, play whatever role they want me to play,” Bradley said.

“I think being the Ryder Cup captain has put me into this category of sort of player when they haven't really had a Ryder Cup captain that’s been playing full-time on the Tour. One of my goals was to make that Presidents Cup team. So we’ll see. I hope I didn’t throw a huge wrench in everybody’s plans, but I’m proud to be in consideration.”

He added: "I still feel like I’m in the prime of my career. I feel like there’s a lot of parts to my game that are the best it’s ever been, and I feel like I got years ahead of me.

"I wanted to make this Ryder Cup team at Bethpage where I was the captain. That’s always a goal of mine. I feel like I can still keep playing at a high level for a while.”
