Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney went on social media to give a personal shoutout to Ryan Barnett after his performance in the club's 3-0 victory over Reading.

McElhenney tweeted, "Ryan Barnett = poetry," spotlighting his skills at right wing-back during the match. Barnett, who has seamlessly slotted into various positions on the pitch in his career, including on the wing, in midfield, and defense, played a pivotal role in Wrexham's win, showing his versitility and skill.

The 24-year-old has been used in eight positions across the pitch over his last 50 matches between joining Wrexham this season and his time with Solihull Moors last year. Barnett's performance on the flank was key, especially in the build-up to Wrexham's first goal. He made a pinpoint cross from the wing that found Ollie Palmer, who headed the ball home to enjoy an early lead in the game.

His ability to ping accurate balls from wide positions was showcased again after his second cross led to a perfectly placed pass that resulted in a missed header that ricocheted off the side post. Elliott Lee was able to tap in the rebound with power, giving Wrexham their second goal.

Barnett didn't just contribute to the team offensively. Phil Parkinson used the workhorse to make solid efforts as a defender, with the same intensity he used going forward to either find the back of the net or pick out a teammate.

Statistically, Barnett won all three of his ground duels on the defensive end. He was labeled "a constant menace" by fans online to the opposing side while also attempting ten long passes to progress the ball to the final third.

Wrexham fans also agreed with McElhenney's tweet , applauding Barnett for his performance. One fan commented, "Incredible today. I wondered how he'd cope in L1. The lad shines bright." Another fan added, "Easily Man of the match for me." Nearly every facet of the club's win was celebrated, despite some fans reporting audio issues throughout the broadcast that made the match hard to watch.

Barnett has settled into the role on the right side of the pitch, finding a sense of stability in the position. He's also assumed the role in the season-opening 3-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers.

Barnett was not utilized in the 0-0 draw against Bolton, as Parkinson's tactics called for different plans. He played in a forward position when Wrexham was eliminated early in the first round of the Carabao Cup following a 4-2 loss against Sheffield United .

After the performance, Wrexham fans assumed that a positional battle would occur between Barnett, Sebastian Revan, and Lewis Brunt. Revan scored a goal in extra time against Sheffield on a follow-up attempt from a missed header attempt on the back post.
