Mattea Roach is taking their Jeopardy! knowledge into the world of books.

The former Jeopardy! winner - who uses they/them pronouns - will be lending their voice to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel. It was announced on Tuesday that Mattea will host Bookends, a new CBC radio show that will replace Writers & Company as the channel's Sunday book program.

Writers & Company was hosted by Eleanor Wachtel, who led the show since it started in 1990. Eleanor announced her retirement last year, making room for the Jeopardy! alum to shine.

Eleanor will host her last episode on September 1 where she'll discuss Mattea's new show and their plans for the future. CBC wrote in its Instagram caption announcing the new show that it "will feature conversations with some of the world’s biggest authors and rising stars."

The announcement was made with a video of Mattea answering book trivia questions in Jeopardy! styled questions as answers. The last question was done as a Final Jeopardy-styled written one that announced the new show.

Mattea first appeared on the hit trivia show in 2022 at 23 years old. They went on to win 23 consecutive games, the fifth highest run in the history of the show.

The star returned for the famed Tournament of Champions and Jeopardy Masters Tournament. They won more than $810,000 during their time on the show.

After Jeopardy!, Mattea hosted the podcast The Backbench, a political show for Canadaland, starting in September 2022. They'll be stepping down from that job at some point to host Bookends.

The show will premiere September 8 at 1 pm and include interviews from poet and author Kaveh Akbar, Canadian novelist Heather O'Neill, and Red, White, & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston.

Fans excitedly commented on the CBC Instagram post announcing the news. "Holy moly, great news!" one Instagram user commented.

"Shut the front door!!!!!!! Ahhhhh," another chimed in. Fans couldn't get enough of Mattea when they recently appeared on Jeopardy! during the Master's Tournament.

Mattea last posted about it in May, when the tournament was ongoing. "Absolutely bananas lucky to have snagged a W in last night’s Jeopardy Masters," they wrote in the caption.
