Adam Sandler reveals Travis Kelce role he nearly had in Happy Gilmore 2

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was almost cast for a specific role "Happy Gilmore 2" - according to lead actor Adam Sandler.

Sandler announced earlier this year that after nearly 30 years a "Happy Gilmore" sequel will be coming to Netflix , and he has since revealed that Kelce will appear in the movie. Kelce is a huge golfing fan and adores the original 1996 movie , one that sees Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) become a professional golfer despite initially wanting to be a hockey player.

Kelce is also close with Sandler, and the actor appeared on his "New Heights" podcast alongside his brother Jason. It was during the episode that Sandler revealed Kelce was shortlisted to play his son in the upcoming sequel.

When discussing "Happy Gilmore 2" on the show, Sandler joked: "The whole thing was to get to hang out with Travis. That’s why we put it together. We’re going there (to New Jersey to film the movie).

"Travis, by the way, thank you, I heard you talking about (the movie) on your show, you guys. We were talking about you playing my son while we were writing it, literally, like six months ago. We were like, imagine if Travis was my first baby, how funny that would be. Just a bad a--."

Kelce's jaw dropped when hearing the news, but despite missing out on a major part, the NFL player will still make the final cut. Sandler teased the news that Taylor Swift's boyfriend would be in the movie when appearing on "The Jimmy Fallon Show" and said: "We have a nice something for Travis.

"He's gonna come by. He's a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He's a stud and he's so funny."

Sandler then discussed Kelce's role on the podcast, as he said: "Travis, we’re gonna have fun, because the scene you’re doing is with so many great golfers. It’s gonna be amazing. You’re gonna be funny as hell."

After a wholesome chat about the upcoming movie, Sandler then discussed Kelce's relationship with Swift and admitted how pleased his wife and daughters are that the two A-list celebrities are dating. "By the way, what a girl. What a girl," Sandler said referring to Swift. "Dude, she means so much to our house."

Sandler has met Swift on several occasions and continued to thank her for always being hospitable to his family. "She just floors my family, floors them," Sandler added. "Somebody asked me, ‘Who do you get nervous around?’ I said I do get nervous around Taylor Swift because I don’t want to blow it in front of my kids and say something stupid.

"She means so much to my house, I better say the right thing here. “You being together and ... when you guys first started dating, my God was my family like, ‘Yes! Look how good they are together. He’s a gentleman, and she’s having so much fun with it.’ Like, anytime Taylor’s laughing with you, my whole family’s like high-fiving."
