Ben Affleck 'going through a tough time' as he co-parents with Jennifer Lopez amid divorce

Ben Affleck is finding it "awkward" to co-parent with Jennifer Lopez amid their divorce, according to a source .

While the former couple don't share any children , they did blend their families together when they got married. Ben shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner - Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12 - and J.Lo shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.

J.Lo grew close to Ben's kids during their marriage and it seems like she's eager to continue nurturing these relationships. However, a source has said they have "vastly different styles of parenting" and Ben is finding it "tough" to adjust.

The source described J.Lo as a "Disneyland stepmom" and said she likes to shower the kids with gifts. Ben on the other hand prefers to keep treats small.

The source said J.Lo's big gestures have come off "a little bit awkwardly" and said Ben is worried his kids will now "expect that type of treatment all the time from him and from their mom". Speaking to In Touch Weekly , they added: "That's just not the way he wants to raise them long term."

Ben is believed to be allowing the treats to continue "while they're going through this tough time" but wants to eventually put an end to it. The source explained: "The last thing he wants is to raise spoiled kids so it's a little tough."

However, the source insisted Ben is "grateful" for the way J.Lo has stayed close to his children. They said she is "showing a lot of class" and has even made Ben soften towards her.

"He was being really tough on her, but he's really impressed just how much maturity and kindness she's shown his kids and he admits it's made him see her in a better light," the source said.

The kids are believed to have taken the news of Ben and J.Lo's divorce well. A source told Page Six that "everybody is ready to move on".

However, it's believed the blended family has broken down as a second source has claimed Ben has yet to see J.Lo's two children since the divorce. "The fact that he has not seen her kids in a long time — it's like he left, but she is especially close to his kids," they said.
