A fan's dream of getting noticed at a concert by the performer came true.
María Victoria Ramírez de Arellano Cardona, also known as Young Miko, performed for two nights at The Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City . Luckily, I was able to purchase a VIP ticket to not only her sold-out show on August 27 but also for August 28. The XOXO tour was in honor of her second studio album, "Att.," which was released on April 5.
I have seen the Puerto Rican artist open for Karol G at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts for the Mañana Sera Bonito tour and be a special guest when she sang "FINA" with Bad Bunny in Puerto Rico and when she sang "Classy 101" with Feid at Madison Square Garden. I was excited to see what was to come as she headlined her own tour.
As a Justin Friends VIP ticket holder, I was able to get early entry for both nights, but really cared about it for the first show since I knew what time the show started. Fans got a bag of exclusive merch for the VIP ticket holders, which contained a pair of socks, a headband, and a lanyard. The early access also gave fans a chance to get merchandise sold at the lobby before it got crazy and packed, which the line later got out the door to inside the venue.
Young Miko gave fans a hint that the show was going to start when a "loading" screen popped up. She opened up with the first song of her album "Rookie of the Year," which is one of my favorites, with "Oye Ma'' following next. She wore a sequined oversized tracksuit for both shows, but each was a different color.
She had a total of two outfit changes and performed a total of 25 songs. Night One did not have any special guests but she did perform some of her old songs. Night two, on the other hand, was everything more.
I had a feeling that night two was going to be special since it was not sold out. I knew she was going to make sure people regretted not wanting to fill the venue and she sure did when Villano Antillano came out to perform "MADRE" and Tokischa came out to perform their hit song, "Bad Gyal's Chulo Pt. 2."
Before the special guests, there was a part of the show where she interacted with fans and read their signs and she read mine! I held up my bright pink sign that read in Spanish: "I left my man at home because you're my type."
She made small flirt gestures after reading it and then asked the crowd: "Les pregunto cuál es su type, me dicen," and we all screamed: "Tú, Baby Miko," which translates to: "I ask what is her type.. you baby Miko." Luckily two fans caught the moment and sent me the videos so I could have the memory on my phone, even though it will forever be engraved.
To go to a concert alone is an experience I suggest for everyone to do at least one. In this case, I saw Young Miko alone for two days and it will probably go down as one of the most special moments in my life. Not only is she a great performer but the love she has for her fans is like no other.
